Tortilla chips products have been recalled from stores, and you should contact a doctor in these cases.
On Tuesday, Santa Maria tortilla chips were withdrawn from Danish stores, and since Thursday, other types of tortilla chips have been withdrawn, according to a press release from the Danish Food Administration. In addition to the Santa Maria product, the following products are being withdrawn:
- ØKO Irmas Hverdag
- Tortilla Chili, ØKO
- Irmas Hverdag
- Tortilla Salt, ØKO
- Änglamark Tortilla
- Chili, ØKO Änglamark
- Tortilla Salt, ØKO 365
- Økologi Tortilla
- Chips Chili og ØKO
- 365 Tortilla Chips Salt
According to the statement, Coop Danmark is recalling several types of organic tortilla chips due to the presence of atropine and scopolamine in the product. The various chips are sold at Dagli'Brugsen, Kvickly, SuperBrugsen, Fakta, Coop 365, Coop 365 Discount, Irma and Coop.dk/Mad nationwide.
Consuming atropine and scopolamine may cause symptoms such as visual disturbances, changes in heart rhythm, and dry mouth. If you experience such symptoms after eating tortilla chips, you should consult a doctor.
The Danish Food Administration advises consumers to return the product to the store where it was purchased, or to dispose of it.
