Run for Palestine

The “Run for Palestine” sporting event will be held for the third year in a row.

“The ”Run for Palestine” race will take place from May 14 to 17, 2026, and will be held in seven Danish cities this year. The race will start in Aalborg, northern Denmark, and finish in Copenhagen at the City Hall in the Danish capital.

This year's activity is being held in cooperation with Puls48, Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke and Amnesty International Denmark.

Since the event's inception in 2024, support has grown significantly. Over 2,000 runners participated then, while this year we expect more than 3,000 runners from across the country. In addition, thousands will be involved in welcoming the runners in various cities.

The “Run for Palestine” sporting activity aims to create a community that brings together people of different ages, backgrounds, and cities to express their support for Palestine in a practical and unified way.

This year's race proceeds will go towards humanitarian work in Palestine, in addition to supporting human rights efforts for Palestinians through Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke and Amnesty International – Denmark.

Faten Othman, the lead coordinator of the “Run for Palestine” event, said:

“When we started in 2024, the goal was to create a community space where people could express their support for Palestine in a practical and unified way. Three years later, 'Run for Palestine' has become a national event that expresses freedom, rights, and justice. We feel both proud and humbled by that.’

Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke sees this collaboration as an opportunity to bring people together around the values of solidarity, teamwork, and concrete action.

Tim White, Secretary General of Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke, said:

“We hope that through this race we can create a sense of community and awareness of a situation that may seem hopeless and unsolvable. But only by engaging and continuing to highlight the issue can we lay the groundwork for a lasting and just peace – and for the freedom of the Palestinians.”

Amnesty International Denmark believes that “Run for Palestine” is also a stand in support of human rights, and the right of Palestinians to freedom, safety and dignity.

Wiebe Klarup, Secretary General of Amnesty International – Denmark, said:

“'Run for Palestine' is a beautiful grassroots event to defend human rights and the right of Palestinians to freedom, safety, and dignity. This is something we need. Amnesty International has documented Israel's systematic human rights violations against Palestinians, such as the illegal occupation, displacement, apartheid, and the ongoing genocide in Gaza over the past two and a half years. We must unite to insist that this stops. Human rights belong to all of us, including Palestinians.’

Everyone can participate, regardless of their fitness level. There are options for running or walking, and you can support the event by attending to cheer on the participants or by purchasing this year's race t-shirt.

“Run for Palestine 2026” will take place in the following seven cities:

Aalborg – May 14
Aarhus – May 15
Esbjerg – May 15
Odense – May 16
Suru – May 16
Copenhagen – May 17
Sonderborg – May 17
