The Danish Immigration Service (Udlændingestyrelsen) announced on Friday, October 9, 2026, the resumption of processing some permanent residence and family reunification applications that had been temporarily suspended due to an error in the Danish criminal record.

Reason for suspending orders

On September 8, 2026, the department temporarily suspended processing of permanent residency applications and some family reunification cases after discovering an error in the criminal record that could affect the evaluation of applications whose procedures depend on the information contained in that record. Resumption of processing some applications

The department explained that the Danish National Police had completed their investigation into the error and concluded that its impact on the criminal record was very limited. Consequently, the Immigration Service decided to resume processing the previously suspended cases.

The decision does not apply to all residency and family reunification applications.

The decision only includes files whose processing was halted due to this specific criminal record issue, namely some permanent residency applications and some family reunification applications, and does not mean the resumption of all pending applications for other reasons.

The announcement did not specify a new date for deciding on each application individually, nor did it announce that approval would be granted automatically to any of the applicants.
