This morning, Tuesday, 58,673 applicants received offers of admission to higher education programs in Denmark, coinciding with the publication of admission rates for all educational programs covered by the coordinated admission system, giving applicants the opportunity to see the minimum admission requirements at various universities and educational institutions.
Following the recent reform in higher education in Denmark, it has become more difficult to enter traditional universities, as the grade point average requirement has been changed and raised to at least 6 (out of 12) as a basic condition for admission to Danish universities. This is aimed at pushing students to pursue vocational studies instead of focusing solely on academic disciplines, based on the need to fill labor positions in fields such as care, nursing, education, construction, carpentry, and others.
Publishing admission rates in various disciplines
The TV2 website explained that students can view the admission requirements for each study program via Search tool Which allows reviewing programs according to several criteria, including the acceptance rate, the number of applicants, and the number of accepted students.
The website added that users can also search for a specific educational institution, such as Copenhagen Business School or Copenhagen University, and next to each rate, the amount of change compared to last year is shown.
Highest acceptance rates for academic programs
The published data showed that a number of programs maintained the highest acceptance rates in Denmark, where 12 is the perfect score, most notably:
- Computer Science at Aarhus University in Aarhus, with an acceptance rate of 11.4, an increase of 1.5 points compared to last year, while the waiting list rate was 10.5, an increase of 2.6 points.
- The design program at Designskolen Kolding School of Design had an acceptance rate of 11.4, down 0.1 points, while the waiting list rate was 10.5, down 0.6 points.
- Data science at Aarhus University, with an acceptance rate of 11.2, an increase of 1.1 points, while the waiting list rate rose to 10.1, a significant increase of 3.9 points.
- The Bachelor of Midwifery program at Copenhagen University College of Professions (Københavns Professionshøjskole) had an acceptance rate of 11.2, a slight decrease of 0.1 points, while the waiting list rate was 11.1, an increase of 0.1 points.
- The Molecular Biomedicine program at the University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet) has an acceptance rate of 11.1, while the waiting list rate is 10.9.
- The International Business Administration program at Copenhagen Business School has an acceptance rate of 11.1.
- The psychology program at the University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet) has an acceptance rate of 11.0 and a waiting list rate of 10.9.
- The psychology program at Aarhus University, with an acceptance rate of 11.0, an increase of 0.1 points, while the waiting list rate was 10.9, an increase of 0.2 points.
- The dentistry program at the University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet) has an acceptance rate of 10.9, an increase of 0.5 points, while the waiting list rate is 10.7, with a similar increase.

The list includes coordinated admissions programs only.
The source indicated that the published list only includes higher education programs that fall under the Coordinated Registration and Admission System, known as KOT, and does not include programs that adopt independent admission procedures outside of this system.

The website explained that the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science will publish in the coming days a list of study programs that still include Vacant seatsSo that those who wish to apply can do so after the main round of admissions has ended.
An upcoming opportunity for students to apply for KOTA 2 for the next season
There is also an opportunity for those who did not receive acceptance in quota 1 to reapply through quota 2 as an additional option before next March 15, as quota 2 depends on the requirements of passing a comprehensive entrance exam and a personal interview and not just on the cumulative grade point average.
The announcement of admission rates comes as thousands of students across Denmark begin preparing to make their final decisions about attending universities and higher education institutions during the new academic year.
