The acting Danish Prime Minister and Royal Commissioner for Government Formation announced that a coalition agreement had finally been reached with the Social Democratic Party, the Social Democratic Party (SF), the Moderate Party, and the Radical Party (Venstre). This minority government is considered to be center-to-center-left in size. Danish media outlets reported the announcement following Mette Frederiksen's visit to King Frederik X in Odense, where he arrived as part of the traditional royal summer tour.<\/p>\n\n\n

The foundations of the government will be announced today, Tuesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mette Frederiksen revealed that the new government will present its foundations on Tuesday \u2013 or in other words: the party leaders will reveal the policy that the government will follow in the coming years, according to TV2 on Monday evening. The ministerial team will be presented on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mette Frederiksen told the press: "It's a good government policy for the people of Denmark, for future generations, and also for the animals.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Standard lengthy negotiations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After an extremely lengthy negotiation process that lasted 69 days, the negotiations that have now concluded are the longest ever in Denmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the elections on March 24, 2026, Mette Frederiksen was appointed Royal Inspector and explored the possibilities of a center-left government, which has now become a reality more than two months after the Danish parliamentary elections. After seven weeks of negotiations, Lars L\u00f8kke Rasmussen chose to make the leader of the Venstre (right\/blue) party, Troels Lund Poulsen, a Royal Inspector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After nearly 14 days, Lund Poulsen proposed forming a VLAK government with the support of the Blue Bloc, including Lars L\u00f8kke Rasmussen and his Moderate Party supporting the government without participating in it, i.e., holding a ministerial portfolio. However, L\u00f8kke did not like this proposal and described it as a \u201ctrial balloon,\u201d which, in his opinion, would not succeed. At that point, Lars L\u00f8kke withdrew his support for Trolls Lund Poulsen as a royal inquisitor (i.e., commissioner for forming the government) and reinstated his support for Mette Frederiksen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, Mette Frederiksen has returned to the throne once again, and has now succeeded in securing a new term for the third time in a row as Prime Minister of Denmark since 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
