TV2 spoke with Lise Agerle Korsten, the media officer at Copenhagen Airport, and with Steen Erik Naverberg, a labor market researcher and aviation expert. Both referred to the ongoing SAS strike, but stressed that it is not the only challenge causing such a huge mess. \u201cIt\u2019s a series of separate things that together create the storm,\u201d according to Steen Erik Naverberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The biggest and most comprehensive challenge is the labor shortage. During the coronavirus pandemic, the aviation industry was forced to lay off a large portion of its employees because travel activity was almost non-existent. This backlog of work has been struggling ever since, according to Steen Eric Naverberg. She adds, \u201cNow the desire to travel has started again, and the aviation industry is in dire need of employees, but it has not returned to the extent that the aviation industry expected, and many of the former employees have found other jobs. For example, there can be a long queue at check-in and baggage drop-off, simply because there is a shortage of people to handle it.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
